Roman Vrtiška (*1982) and Vladimír Žák (*1980) met while studying at the Academy of Fine Arts, where they began their collaboration. Together they also completed an internship at Alvar Aalto University in Helsinki, where their work was awarded several times. After graduating, they became part of the emerging fresh generation of Czech designers characterized by a wide range of interests and a professional approach to work. Since then, they have been among the sought-after and respected creators. The founders of the Prague studio Vrtiška & Žák with more than a decade of tradition (founded in 2009) are united by diligence, a desire to overcome challenges and the ability to see potential even where to others remain hidden. Their work covers a complex of areas from product design to interiors and architecture, from craftsmanship to industrial scale. Creativity and unconventional thinking are essential values for the development of their work.design.

| Description | Jaromír Popek, co-founder of Independent Catamaran, approached us with a clear brief: "I need a catamaran design that is foldable and allows the top deck to be opened". The IC36 design proposal builds on the chassis and original concept of Tomas Jonas Janda. It is the first ever catamaran, in its category, that is designed to be assembled and disassembled for challenging and long repositioning of the boat. The whole boat, when folded, fits on a special trailer behind a car or in a cargo container with dimensions of twelve meters. In good weather, it is then possible to easily dismantle part of the roof and fully enjoy the fresh sea air. The IC36 is a sort of hybrid between a classic cruiser and a sports boat. It offers the comfort of the former and the agility and speed of the latter. The design of the boat, including the interior, is created with this hybrid concept in mind. It is calm, elegant and aggressive at the same time. Since her first launch, at the Cannes Yachting Festival, she has already received two nominations for Newcomer of the Year in the Multihull category. |
