My name is Jiri Krejcirik, a multidisciplinary designer based in Prague. My practice embraces a broad spectrum of disciplines and methods – it transcends the barriers between art and design, from product design through furniture, lighting, glass, interior and spatial design. Whether designing for a client or developing my own self–initiated projects or gallery objects, I always apply the same thorough attention to context, process and detail. As a result, my entire portfolio is characterised by a coherent visual language threading the historical and the cultural through a contemporary lens – with an unexpected edge. Embracing a tradition of craftsmanship, each product is hand-crafted locally, in the Czech Republic, produced in a limited series and being displayed only in meticulously chosen galleries and design showrooms in Europe.

Description Nouveau collection Design by Jiří Krejčiřík / limited edition with pyrographic drawings by visual artist Taja Spassková. This collection is inspired by Czech Art Nouveau aesthetics and interdisciplinary artists of the time such as František Bílek, who was known primarily as an artist working in the media of sculpture and graphics. Jiří designed sculptural furniture, which Taja etched with a technical firing that was typical for the time. These influences are present in the limited collections of collectable furniture in which both the design and the drawing are related to the period. The furniture is carefully handcrafted in the Czech Republic with a deep focus on fine details such as miter joints, beveled edges and soft-touch finishes. Kalokaghatos and Odyssey The Kalokagathos table is loosely inspired by the aesthetics of ancient Greece. This sculptural table is part of the Eclecticismus collection, in which I trace the relationship between history and the present. Each piece from the collection is loosely inspired by a certain style or movement from the past and at the same time refers to a unique personality closely associated with the given era. The table is precisely handcrafted in the Czech Republic from solid ash wood. The Odyssey table was included in the archive of the Moravian Gallery in Brno – the Museum of Applied Arts in the Czech Republic as part of their archive of Czech design.
