| Description | The new fountain in Dolní Věstonice is not a classic fountain archetype, but a combination of a 3D map and a water feature. The 3D map shows the New Mills waterworks, a set of reservoirs that were built in the 1970s and 1980s. Further, the limestone massif of Pavlovská vrchy, colloquially Pálava, which rises above the water body. Pálava and Nové mlýny are inextricably linked, it was natural for us to display them together on the fountain. The fountain is cast in concrete as one piece and weighs 7.3 tons. We chose concrete as the most suitable material for the fountain. Concrete processing technology offered the possibility of casting the entire object as one piece, which was successful. This concrete monolith is complemented by stainless steel elements that mark the most famous and popular landmarks of the place. Here you will find the church of St. Linhart, which resembles the village of Mušov, which used to be located here. Bridges that cross the waterworks in three places and also a pin that serves as an orientation point where the visitor is at the moment. You will also find here a favorite destination for photographers, the last two lonely trees that grow out of the water surface. And finally, the ruins of the Gothic castle of Děvička, without which Pálava would not be Pálava and from which you can see the entire waterworks of the New Mill as in the palm of your hand. |
